MEDA Membership Service of the Month
August 2010 -- As the “leading voice for economic development in Michigan” MEDA is often presented with the opportunity to seek solutions that the economic development community can use to do their work effectively. MEDA develops taskforces to discuss, research, and produce reports and studies that provide recommendations on specific issues. When incentives to attract and retain companies were under fire, MEDA members banded together to produce “Accelerating Michigan’s Economic Resurgence,” a comprehensive report on recommended changes to business incentives. In the wake of the social media boom, MEDA formed a taskforce to explore social media’s use in attracting, fundraising and performing other economic development duties. An educational seminar is being planned to cover this topic.

As a MEDA member, being part of a taskforce can greatly enhance your knowledge on current issues, introduce you to a new network of your peers, and assure that you are part of a team that is actively seeking solutions for your fellow practitioners.
