Event and Meeting Planner

The Michigan Economic Developers Association is a growing state-wide organization dedicated to helping communities grow. We are looking for a dynamic individual who desires to make an impact on the quality of life in Michigan both locally and statewide. This is an entry-level position, ideal for a candidate who wishes to start a career.

Job Description: Manage and coordinate the organization’s yearly events. Work with staff and volunteer committees to develop event content and manage all event logistics, including contract negotiation, speaker/trainer contact, facility logistics, food and beverage, audiovisual, onsite management, pre- and post-event communication with attendees, and the preparation of event materials.

Host/manage webinar events developed by a committee.

Also required will be minimal office duties and other duties as assigned.

Skills: Organized, detail-oriented, and the ability to multi-task, with a basic understanding of event planning, budgeting, working with volunteers, the Zoom platform and can communicate professionally, both orally and in writing.

Basic understanding of Microsoft Office, including experience with Access, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is helpful.

Benefits: This is a full-time position. Benefits include yearly bonuses, paid vacation, personal time, paid healthcare, paid parking, 15 paid holidays, no weekends, few nights, hours 8:30 am – 5 pm. Occasional travel.
