Before the Ask

  • Be prepared to explain your interest in economic development. It is a common question.
  • Prepare/update your resume, double-checking for misspelled words or grammar errors. PRO TIP: Provide a clean LinkedIn profile link with your resume.

Helpful Tips and Resources

  • Review Chapter 1 of MEDA's Economic Development Methods and Strategies book "Economic Development Today." This will help to clarify the basics of an economic development role.
  • Have potential meeting dates to suggest for the mentor.
  • Review helpful articles, such as 7 Tips for Job Shadowing.
