MEDA Mentorship Connection - Mentees
The MEDA Mentorship Connection program will provide you with the opportunity to learn from a leader in the economic development industry via one-on-one interaction.
How to Ask for a Mentor
Simply contact Catie at the MEDA office at catie@medaweb.org with your resume and we'll put out a "Call for Mentor" email to our members in the geographical area that you are interested in.
Before the Ask
- Be prepared to explain your interest in economic development. It is a common question.
- Prepare/update your resume, double-checking for misspelled words or grammar errors. PRO TIP: Provide a clean LinkedIn profile link with your resume.
Helpful Tips and Resources
- Review Chapter 1 of MEDA's Economic Development Methods and Strategies book "Economic Development Today." This will help to clarify the basics of an economic development role.
- Have potential meeting dates to suggest for the mentor.
- Review helpful articles, such as Indeed's 21 Do's and Dont's of Job Shadowing.
After the Connection
MEDA will reach out to you about a month after the initial connection is made. We may ask you to complete a short survey or write a paragraph about your experience.
